Oppressive humidity was Thursday’s distinguishing feature and it should feel gooey for most of the rest of the day.

Humidity was at nearly 90 percent at 6 a.m. and it should remain there into the afternoon.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to hit the area during the afternoon but the humidity will not begin to drop until early Friday.

As for Thursday, the temperature will rise into the high 80s during the day.

By Friday, the daytime temperature will only rise to about 80 degrees and the overnight temperature should drop into the high 50s, forecasters said.

The daytime temperature on Saturday and Sunday will be in the high 60s, forecasters said.
